The Mother of Perpetual Help Cruise
Some 500 years ago, a ship set sail from the isle of Crete, off the coast of Greece, for the shores of Italy. On board, hidden among the cargo, was one of the world’s most famous works of religious art. Over time, this painting would become known and loved by millions of people around the globe, made famous by an order of priests and brothers entrusted by the Holy See to “make her known around the world.”In March of 2011, another ship will set sail, again with the painting on board but this time in full view. For eight days, from March 3rd through the 11th, the Redemptorists of the Denver Province will be sponsoring the first-ever “Mother of Perpetual Help” cruise, aboard the aptly named Carnival cruise ship, “Miracle.”
Join the Redemptorists on their Caribbean quest to spread devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help with visits to the beautiful islands of St. Maarten, St Lucia, and St Kitts. Explore the history of the icon and its sacred mysteries during a full week of Masses, novenas and discussion groups led by noted iconologist and roving scholar, Brother Daniel Korn, C.Ss.R. and Father Allan Weinert, C.Ss.R., our spiritual director for the trip.
“This cruise is meant to develop within our guests a much deeper appreciation for the icon and its power to inspire trust in Mary as our loving protector and perpetual help,” said Brother Daniel.
